About Paul...

Although he trained at Kneller Hall as a percussionist with the Band of the Welsh Guards (with piano as his second instrument and cello as third), it was as a bass guitar player that Paul turned (civilian!) professional in the late 70's. As a busy freelance musician, he was soon working on a multitude of TV shows, records, West End musicals, tours and gigs for a great diversity of artists and producers, all the while combining this first arm of his career with that of arranging and composing; making good use of his Kneller Hall training. In addition, for several hectic years from 1987, he ran a music production company with long-time colleague and close friend Arthur Dick, the pair composing and recording many TV and radio jingles and corporate scores.

(Check out Arthur's website to get an idea of just how valued he is as a recording guitarist...)

The nineties saw Paul's career continue on its wide-ranging path, with playing and writing duties for the RSC, Lulu, The Proclaimers, Barbara Thompson and TV's "The Generation Game", amongst many, many others. From 1999 to 2005, Paul scored and recorded more than 20 cruise ship production shows for the entertainment company Live Business. For international publisher Music Sales, he's played on - and transcribed bass guitar for - dozens of CD/music book sets in the "Play Guitar/Play Bass With..." series, including prestigious international, double volume editions of Beatles and Led Zeppelin transcriptions.

The bass player...

As the new millennium has progressed, Paul's arranging workload has increased to a point of reversal in his occupation: he's now primarily an arranger. His (skilled) bass-playing side continues, although he's now more selective as to which outside sessions and gigs he accepts - as befits a man of his vintageā€¦ Internet sessions are available, too; just get a sound file to Paul via the web and he'll add a pristine bass part to it (via Logic Pro 10) as per your precise instructions, and at reasonable cost. (Instruments include Fender, Sadowsky, Yamaha, Modulus, Hofner, Ibanez, Epiphone and MusicMan).
